It is a dentistry that involves, prior to a dental procedure, injecting a sedative drug through a vein of a patient(in other words giving IV sedation) in order to make the patient instantly relaxed and sleepy while remaining conscious. For the patient's safety, a dentist and a registered nurse are present throughout the procedure to monitor vital signs. The majority of patients do not remember this dental treatment.

A pre-treatment consultation is recommended for the following reasons. During a consultation, a patient's medical history is reviewed to ensure that sedation is appropriate. A dental exam and, if necessary, x-rays are taken to ensure the best treatment plan. Pre-and post-treatment instructions are provided. Any dental questions and financial concerns are discussed with our team of trained professionals. Then the actual dental treatment appointment is scheduled. For patients who are highly anxious, a pill is given prior to the appointment to calm them.

We do general dentistry. Any dental treatment can be done under sedation, such as cleanings, fillings, root canals, cosmetic dentistry, gum surgery, extractions, etc. With the addition of IV sedation, dental care that normally requires several visits can be completed in one appointment.

You must leave the office accompanied by a responsible adult usually within twenty minutes after the procedure has been completed. It is common to feel tired for a few hours following treatment. We recommend that you rest at home for rest of the day. Complications of any sort are unusual and minor, enabling you to return to work the next day. However, in case of extensive oral sugery, some short-term limitations may be recommended.
